| Terry Williams, Sharlyne and Dan DeVinna, Elfie Almaguer, Maria Swenson, Sharon Wadle, Marla and Larry Watson, Carlos came out on August 17, 2002 to assist the Waco Police Personnel and Training Unit with the testing for Police Officer Candidates. Ninety-eight men and women showed up to test. After taking the Civil Service Exam the applicants went to the Fire Dept. Training Tower area to go through the Physical Agility Test. | Volunteers helped with the registering, passed out and collected test items. They also graded test and helped monitor the Civil Service Testing. At the Agility Test they lined up applicants in correct order, showed them how to put on the gunbelt and monitor the obstecles and kept time. They also cheered and encouraged all candidates. |

Sharon Hopwood, Elfie and Maria hand out gunbelts. Most of the candidates had never worn a gunbelt and were confused with the use of keepers. Volunteers had to make them wear them. A few manage to slip away with out the keepers and ended up with the gun holster down the middle of their back or right in front of their belly button. |
| We had a lot of ex-military from the Fort Hood area. We also saw some familiar faces from neighboring law enforcement agencies. | ![]() |

| Sheriff's department loaned us some weekend guest to assist. It was great to see them also cheering and encouraging the candidates! Marla and Sharon kept time on the runners. | ![]() |

Officer Ballman and Officer McCall were at the starting line. They gave final instructions to the candidates. |
| Candidates had to listen to the suspect discription that came over the radio. Then run to the gate and jump over it, run to the table and go under it. Then they got to the window, climb through it and identify the suspect by number. The last part was having to drag a 150 dummy to the finish line. | ![]() |

They used all kinds of different techniques to get over the get. Some ran up, some pulled themselves over, some just flopped over. It all counted as long a you made it over. |
